As
part of its contribution to improve the education sector in Lagos State, MTN
Yellow Care has renovated six blocks of classrooms in Basiru Dania Primary
school, Mafoluku, Oshodi.
Speaking
on the project on Tuesday, MTN human resources executive, Mrs. Amina Oyagbola
expressed the view that life is not all about making profits but giving back to
the society.
According
to her, MTN Yellow Care has set aside 21 days every year for its staff across
the states to render community service and to contribute their quota to the
development of the society.
“We
want to lift others up and also be our brothers’ keeper”, she stated, adding,
“This prompted us to complete the project within 3 days.”
Oyagbola
also used the platform to challenge other organisations in the country to
contribute their own quota, saying it will go a long way to improve the
education sector. She also expressed her satisfaction on the reception given
her by the management of the school.
In
his own contribution, the senior manager, Sales Support and Financial Control
of MTN, Mr. Martins Emeh explained that they tasked their members of staff and
also expended part of the welfare money to actualise the project.
MTN
Yellow Care also gave the school educational materials including television
set, fridge, volumes of story books, branded MTN items, among others.
The
head teacher of the school, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Afolabi testified that school was
in a sorry state before MTN came to its rescue and expressed appreciation to
MTN and called on other organisations to emulate the good gesture of the
company.
