The
#BringBackOurGirls group, yesterday decided it would take to streets in Abuja
tomorrow to mark the 126 days of the abduction of over 200 school girls in
Chibok, Borno State.
The group, which was meant to embark on the protest today, which coincides with its 110 days of daily sit-out, stated that because it is a day of rest, the protest will be shifted to tomorrow when the members of the public would be around to participate fully in the protest.
The group also noted that as part of the programme for tomorrow, it would mount the protest at strategic location in the FCT and hand out fliers and pamphlets to the members of the public to remind them that these schoolgirls are still in the hands of Boko Haram sect members.
It would be recalled that the group took to the streets of Abuja on day 120 of the girls’ abduction in order to re-awaken in the masses the fact that the Chibok school girls had stayed in the hands of the terrorists for 120 days .
The protest which was organised in commemoration of the 105 of the group daily sit-out also involved distributions of fliers and stickers to motorists and passersby.
One of the coordinators of the group, Hadiza Bala Usman had stated that the protest was aimed at urging Nigerians not to move on with their lives but to lend a voice to the demand for the rescue of the girls.
“We are taking our advocacy to the streets by coming out of our Unity Fountain to engage motorists that are passing by because we feel that Nigerians should not move on with their lives but should remember always that people’s daughters have stayed in the hands of their abductors for 120 days,” she said.
