The 2014 edition of The Headies Music Awards, has opened for entries to Nigerian music materials released between July 2013 and June 2014.
The organisers, Smooth Promotions, which made the disclosure in Lagos on Tuesday, said the entry process commenced on July 22 and would close on August 30.
The Chief Executive Officer of Smooth Promotions, Ayo Animashaun, said the awards which was in its ninth year would continue to maintain its high standards.
He said that Nigerian artists had contributed their quota to the nation’s growth and deserved to be recognised and rewarded.
"There is no better way to reward these deserving artists where they are not only appreciated by their country but also celebrated on a platform aligned with international brands. The honour of receiving this prestigious award in their country, that is recognised on an international level, is one of the many things Smooth Promotions aims to achieve with this year’s awards,’’ he said.
He added that there would be a new category, 'Best Alternative Song' and that the event would hold on October 25.
