Things are going well in the romance
department for Taye Diggs.
The hunky star stopped by E! News
to chat with Catt Sadler
and guest co-host Ross Mathews,
and of course, we just had to talk about the new lady in his life, Amanza Smith Brown.
"She's a great gal," Diggs
tells us. "Working on doing the show with her with interior design and the
kids. You know, she's got two beautiful kids of her own, so it was just a
really good friendship and we're taking it from there. I'm happy."
Diggs and his girlfriend made their first red carpet appearance as a couple at the 2014 BET Music
Awards in late June, but their relationship went public four months after it was announced that he and Broadway star Idina Menzel
had split up after nearly 11 years of marriage.
Calling it quits with Menzel also
inspired Taye to create a new television show centered around single dads.
"Going through this separation, I'm
realizing all of the adventures that I've been going through and I thought that
this is would make a really good television program, if you followed a bunch of
other single fathers in an urban setting and we were able to kind of take a
peek into their lives and what goes into being a father, being solo, having a
career, trying to have a dating life, dealing with baby mamas and nannies and
sitters and schedules," Diggs said.
"It's something and I don't think
there's anything like that in that space. So I thought it would make
interesting television."
The Single Urban
Dads Twitter account describes the show as "dealing with the
challenges and triumphs of being a single dad in the big city."
